"This royal commission actually has terms of reference that are wider than any royal commission that has been established since well before the turn of the 21st century," Mr Sackville said. Mr Sackville said due to the pandemic, the commission's work had been delayed and changes had to be made to the way hearings were run and witnesses gave evidence.

"It was quite intimidating and scary to be going all the way to Sydney and talking in such an important situation," Ms Mitchell said. The inquiry also heard that doctors have regularly shown little regard and value for Joshy's life and a lack of knowledge about how to communicate with people living with disability.Ms Mitchell is hoping her evidence will translate into recommendations to improve the treatment of people living with disability in healthcare.

The royal commission report states unequivocally that climate change is making bushfires more intense and more dangerous.
