The introduction of a national state of emergency, an all-hazard emergency warning app and more aerial firefighting resources are among the recommendations from the bushfire royal commission's final report.

The inquiry was called in the wake of the devastating 2019-20 summer bushfire season, but looked at Australia's readiness for and response to all natural disasters.

The 80 recommendations provide advice on the coordination of all levels of government during emergencies, warning systems for the public, firefighting resources, climate data, the role of the Australian Defence Force and how charities and other groups can best respond in the wake of disasters. Minister for Emergency Management David Littleproud said the Government would "carefully and methodically" consider the report and its recommendations.

"But we are committed to responding to and actioning many of the recommendations as soon as possible," he said. The Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements tasked the commissioners with an immense job: working out not only how to prevent the severity of future bushfire seasons, but all natural disasters.More to come.

The recommendations have serious shortfalls

Arson get a mention at all 🤔

But it's ok to not do anything and enable wood fire burning for recreational use and not create policies for cleaner energy and no recreational pollution in dense living populations. This government etc is a joke

I note a call for a National app. The Victorian app is frankly absolutely hopeless. The old one was better. I also note the average Australian’s level of intelligence is waning as confusing watch and act with get the fuck out seems to be an issue auspol

Arson? Lightening strikes? Penalties for arson or breaching fire ban rules? Any mention of a Greens and Labor led lack of back burning? auspol

Have all the eco arsonists been charged?

Any mention of arson?

Why isn't Scott Morrison at this PC? Not important enough to warrant his attention ? I think we know why ? Why are journos not asking where he is ?

Not keen on federal oversight.

Will the gov read it and act on recommendations before the next fires start up in summer?

10 pages in a 500+ page report, about Aboriginal land care.

Is this report available online, or do we have to wait for BlisterBoy (I don't hold a hose mate) to release it?

The royal commission report states unequivocally that climate change is making bushfires more intense and more dangerous. However, it makes no recommendation for reducing our emissions, which is what is causing climate change. How is that possible?

Does that mean ScoMo will finally start to spend the bushfire relief fund nearly a year after it was announced?

When will the incompetent Federal Government release the report
