Liberal Senator SenatorMcGrath says Deputy PM Barnaby_Joyce is a 'great retail politician' who channels his 'inner Paul Keating' in parliament.

Liberal Senator James McGrath says Deputy PM Barnaby Joyce is a "great retail politician" who channels his "inner Paul Keating" in parliament. "Barnaby is someone who is channelling the inner Paul Keating and I hope he doesn't hold that against me," Mr McGrath told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

"But Barnaby is someone who is a great retail politician, he's going to work closely with Scott Morrison to stand up for Queensland and Australia. "I speak as a Senator who is based in regional Queensland. "What people across Australia want are politicians who are prepared to stand up. "Barnaby just has that ability to connect with people and he has that turn of phrase and he's someone who's going to add a frisson of excitement.

Barnaby Joyce has 'strong convictions' and 'few qualms' about expressing them | Sky News AustraliaBarnaby Joyce has always been a “distinctive” politician with strong convictions and “few qualms” about expressing them, according to Sky News host Peta Credlin. \n\nOn Monday, Mr Joyce defeated Michael McCormack after a spill motion was called in the Nationals Party room.\n\nBarnaby Joyce is set to be sworn in on Tuesday as Australia's deputy prime minister. \n\nOusted Nationals leader Michael McCormack gave Barnaby Joyce his best wishes and said he respected the decision made by the party.\n\nMs Credlin said Mr Joyce has “managed to keep his authenticity and his common touch, despite being in parliament for over 15 years”. \n\n“Barnaby's challenge will be to re-establish the Nats as a strong voice for regional Australia, without too obviously rocking the boat inside the Morrison government.\n\n“It won't be easy. He'll have to bruise a few left-leaning Liberals, sure, but that's actually a good thing. Some in the Coalition could do with a timely reminder of what Liberals actually stand for, and what the base wants to see from its elected MPs”. \n Faint praise indeed😸 You deserve a gong PETA brilliant observation. “Strong convictions” yes who could forget when he opposed the cancer vaccine for girls, because he thought it might encourage promiscuity. That didn’t age well.
