Maroons captain insists Josh Papalii has heard the criticism of his efforts in the series and is primed to issue an emphatic rebuke on Wednesday.

Maroons captain Daly Cherry-Evans says Josh Papalii is ready to silence his critics in emphatic style at Suncorp Stadium as Queensland back their forward leader to become a major roadblock for the Blues in Wednesday night’s decider.

That will give Papalii another chance to put his side on the front foot early in the contest. After NSW dominated the territory battle in Perth, the Maroons know it will be a long night if they are forced to truck it off their line time and again. A dejected Selwyn Cobbo is comforted by Queensland teammate Josh Papalii. Both men need to lift dramatically for game three.“Paps is the leader of our pack. He doesn’t have to say a lot but his actions speak louder than most people I’ve played with. There has been a little bit of external noise around where he’s at and what is a good game for Josh Papalii.
