NSW coach Brad Fittler is poised to take debutant Jacob Saifiti out of the State of Origin firing line in the opening minutes by promoting Junior Paulo to the starting side.

Saifiti, who won the nod over David Klemmer and Reagan Campbell-Gillard to replace the injured Jordan McLean, is expected to start on the bench as the Blues wrapped up their preparations at the far north coast town of Kingscliff. The experienced Paulo has started on the bench in the opening two games of the series, but in the absence of Payne Haas and McLean, he will be moved to the run-on side.

NSW will travel to Brisbane on Monday before having a final captain’s run on Tuesday. The Blues are trying to win their first decider at Suncorp Stadium in 17 years.
