If passed, the federal government's Safeguard Mechanism Bill will require the nation's 215 largest-polluting facilities to reduce their emissions by 4.9 per cent each year to 2030.

abc.net.au/news/bowen-calls-for-compromise-on-climate-policy/102090898Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen is warning the Greens against voting down Labor's signature climate change legislation, arguing "no reform means no change".

The mechanism is the core of the government's plan to reduce emissions by 43 per cent by the decade's end. The party labelled the government's target as "weak" and is adamant that allowing new coal and gas projects would erase any potential emissions reductions.

Bowen defends need for future gas supply as Labor pushes GreensChris Bowen says gas will ‘increasingly’ dominate the 18 per cent of energy generation not covered by his 82 per cent renewables target in 2030. This bloke has been sold a pup buy the green public service, and is finding the truth a bitter pill to swallow. Like the treasurer, he will find there is a bus coming. That’s odd a few weeks ago he was telling us how terrible, outdated and dirty fossil fuels were. Too late mate…nobody will invest now in a socialist state.

‘I was dead the day Bowen started’: ex-Snowy boss saysPaul Broad, in his first extended interview since leaving the high-profile job, said Labor’s energy transition plan time frame “beggars belief”. I don’t think Mr Broad has much to complain about. There is certainly a theme to which party made a number of his public service appointments. Also remember he was one of the most vocal critics of the NBN when labor was first pushing the plan (and he was a telco CEO).

Labor is ‘getting desperate’ to promote the Voice with ‘simplistic, asinine arguments’Sky News host Rita Panahi says Labor is “getting desperate” to promote the Voice to Parliament with their “simplistic, asinine arguments”. “Even people you would expect to be a little bit smarter and a little bit more measured,” Ms Panahi said. “Some of these analogies are so asinine that you can only laugh, but this is all they’ve got. “All they’ve got is to attack people as racists for not supporting it.” Projection at its best.
