Shadow Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews has expressed concerns over a “big hole” left in Australia’s security before the reinstatement of Nauru as a regional processing centre.

Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil said during Question Time she was advised about Nauru on December 15.

“That date was absolutely news to me because in that briefing on the Monday … I specifically asked questions about the timing and was not given a date other than late December,” Ms Andrews told commentator Steve Price. “For the Minister to go in post-Question Time and make a statement where she said that I had been advised on the 15th of December and that it was late, or words to that effect – but she said I was specifically advised on the 15th of December – was untrue.”

Ms Andrews added it was “extraordinary” for a minister to go into the House and make a statement that was “untrue”.

'Ms Andrews added it was “extraordinary” for a minister to go into the House and make a statement that was “untrue”.' Not really. We had 9 years of this from the previous govt.

Why give Dutton a gift. will someone start actually blocking labour legislation, then? the only way labour will ever come around on refugees and climate change is if the parties and independents that claim to want progressive action force the issue by making it impossible for labour to govern.

Albanese suffers ‘fall’ from ‘high levels of satisfaction’ as preferred Prime MinisterWe are seeing a “fall from very high levels of satisfaction” for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and an increase in support for Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, says The Australian’s National Editor Dennis Shanahan. “Early days, no problem for the party vote, but a little bit of a warning,” Mr Shanahan told Sky News host Peta Credlin. “Anthony Albanese be careful how you behave, particularly in relation to the Voice and Indigenous affairs.” Yeah, right. 🙄 Seriously, Dutton’s polling is appalling. Surely Taylor will challenge. auspol
