Bestselling Treehouse authors back students striking for climate action | niltiac

An igloo is an unlikely weapon in the face of global warming - unless it's a cartoon drawn by bestselling children's author-illustrator Terry Denton to promote the Global Climate Strike.Bestselling children's book author Andy Griffiths, right, and illustrator Terry Denton are backing the Global Climate Strike.- the 10th in the popular Treehouse series - to support children and young people striking on Friday.

Griffiths said children experienced "anxiety and anger" when they couldn't trust adults to "tell the truth and act on the truth" when it comes to the climate crisis. He wanted students attending the rally to know they had the "support of the Treehouse gang" to counter negativity from people who object to children protesting when they should be in school.Denton defended the right of children's book authors to raise these issues.

Griffiths said the series, while not overtly political, had a serious underlying purpose to improve children's literacy.

Labor Party flags climate policy overhaul | Sky News AustraliaLabor MP Matt Thistlethwaite says his party is planning to overhaul its climate policies and bring “stronger action on climate change” than the current government. \n \nThe member for Kingsford Smith told Sky News host Chris Kenny Labor will do “more than the current government” when it comes to energy policies. \n \n“We didn’t win the last election, we accept that,” he said. \n\n“That’s why we’re conducting this review, not just of our energy policy but all of our policies.”\n \nHis remarks came after former Labor Leader Bill Shorten broke his silence on Labor’s climate policy. \n \nMr Shorten said voters wanted to see strong action to combat climate change but it would be arrogant if the party did not review its climate policy. Labor this, Labor that. Why isn't there a single Tweet here today about the neoLiberal rapist Pell wasting my tax-payer-dollars by appealing his overwhelming conviction for his disgusting crimes? Better not report real news and upset your right-wing religious clown base! Hmm, stronger than the current LNP government denying policy but weaker than the existing Labor policy? I certainly hope not. ClimateEmergency simonahac And stronger losses for crim-Labor at the next election.

'You’re not trying hard enough. Sorry,' Greta Thunberg tells US CongressSwedish teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg on Tuesday called for action, not praise, from US lawmakers as she joined other youth leaders in kicking off two days of meetings and speeches on Washington’s Capitol Hill. Silly little manipulated hypocrit, if she’s serious she’d toddle off to China and India and peddle her tripe. This is peak leftist absurdism. The media presenting this creepy kid as some kind of moral arbiter and font of wisdom. When, in reality, she's just an empty sock-puppet being used by cynical adults who should know better. AdamBandt I am dying to see if trump gets stuck into her. I hope that he does. A 16 year old mentally challenged lecturing to US Congress. Am I reading this correctly. 🤯

Class action to be launched against ‘toxic’ robodebt scheme | Sky News AustraliaLabor is throwing its weight behind a class action against the government’s “toxic” robodebt scheme designed to claw back millions in welfare debt.\n\nMelbourne law firm Gordon Legal — which alleges automated debt recovery is unlawful — will launch the class action on behalf of victims. \n\n“The toxic robodebt scheme is not just immoral, it is almost certainly illegal,” Shadow Minister for Government Services Bill Shorten told the media on Tuesday.\n\n“This will be a David and Goliath fight, but the Labor Party fundamentally stands up for the underdog against the excesses and harm caused and recklessness of powerful institutions like the government.” \n\nThe government quickly rebuffed Mr Shorten and labelled the move a political stunt.\n\nThe robodebt scheme uses an algorithm to find discrepancies in the information held by government agencies. This has been going on for the last 10 years but it was another policy brought in by Labor and the Libs went with it so guess who is eventually going to pay ScottMorrisonMP fighting to poor littleManPolicies

Weapons used in oil field attack 'came from Iran', says Saudi coalitionThe weapons used to strike Saudi oil facilities were Iranian-made, the Riyadh-led coalition said Monday, heightening fears of regional conflict after the US hinted at a military response to the assault. Where were all the weapons made that the Saudis used on Yemen for the last 3 yrs and why is this being ignored by the media? Made out to be a random act when it’s actually part of an ongoing conflict. We could make a fairly substantial list of instances where the U.S (spurred on by Israel) has lied the public into illegal wars. So what makes this any different, considering Iran has been in the cross hairs for decades? Once again MSM complicit. Gulf of Tonkin incident...
