The federal government is providing $8.3 million for research to prevent the spread of tuberculosis among the Pacific Islands.

The Morrison government is providing $8.3 million for four research projects to help tackle the threat of drug resistant tuberculosis and antimicrobial resistance among neighbouring Pacific Islands.

"The World Health Organization estimates around 10 million people each year fall sick with TB, with nearly 60 per cent of new cases each year occurring in the Indo-Pacific region," Minister Hunt said in a statement on Saturday.

How about the federal government hand some money over to fire victims!

Why?

Good to read that you are addressing this TB problem in our neighbourhood MarisePayne GregHuntMP

I'm sure they will use this money extremely wisely and I'm certain the 'Research' will prove extremely valuable with lots of documentation.

Why research, don’t we have a vaccination for TB? Use that money to vaccinate instead.

Its great to do this, yet TB in Australia is not without its own problems. StVincent hospital outbreak, systematic reduction of scientific staff, job hire freezes, pathlabs underfunded, staffing reduced. Aft covid19 is under control massive $$ cutting due to costs invlvd re covid

Lol ask Sydney hospital how they’re doing with that

Many more deaths than COVID19.

Now this is a good story. Unlike abcnews , this isn't trying to make white people look evil and worthy of being purged.

They might say they are but they promise much more than they ever deliver.
