The construction industry in Victoria will be shut down for two weeks,Three industry and union stakeholders have been told the Andrews government will announce the closure on Monday night after a day of violent protests outside the CFMEU’s head office in Melbourne.Only select critical infrastructure works such as hospitals and some ongoing level crossing removal works, which require swift progress to reopen train lines, will continue during the shutdown.

While I defend the right of people to protest about something and have your say on it, that’s what democracy is all about. Let me tell you, it is just targeted at us for whatever reason, I mean we have kept people safe. We have kept our members in work. He was speaking to Triple J from the union’s Melbourne office, which had its doors and windows smashed in and is now protected by a police cordon.

Hopefully they are smart and use that time to get vaxxed 😏

Crepe paper is tougher than the average Australian tradey

Fake news - they are scared of needles not the vaccine

A minority, probably most not construction workers shuts down the whole industry. If true another Dan dummy spit, like the don't take masks off to drink alcohol outside. But it is a newspaper saying this..

Cheers F.wits

Would have thought reducing their spare time by having work on would make more sense, as it'll likely lead to less protests

So good. Fuck them

Such a predictable response. He loves to punish people for being naughty. Sorry Dan, you are cooked. Your job is no longer tenable. Resigndan

I’ve heard a good suggestion that vax be mandated for anyone classified an essential worker. If you don’t want to be vaxxed you can’t be essential. You can work when we are not in lockdown, but not during times of public health orders, across industries.

Only 2 weeks? how long were playgrounds closed because of naughty parents
