Author Lex Stewart says ‘democracy is in a crisis’ and that Australia is ‘at risk’ of electing ‘illegitimate, illegal governments based on cheating’.

Mr Stewart says 18,000 letters were sent after the 2016 election, saying the recipient had voted two or more times, but despite these letters there’s never been a prosecution for multiple votes. Following a report on the conduct of the 2016 federal election, it was recommended that voters should present identification, and that an electronic certified list be implemented to limit voter fraud.

Its village idiot time

We need an online voting system.

Relying on who someone says they are without ID and without an automated check-off system in a world when someone can claim to be whoever they dream up on the day is just plain cray-cray. Voting for our government is too important for that.

And so it begins...

Under our current system it is very easy for an individual (especially in the city) to vote several times at different booths. Because we have secret ballots it's impossible to trace these fraudulent votes. auspol

Led Stewart can say whatever he likes. Doesn’t make it true.
