Doctors release a five-point plan to increase hospital beds and reduce ramping, to free-up emergency departments for surges that might come from COVID outbreaks, but the Deputy Premier says the health system is ready.

Urgent action is needed to fix ambulance ramping and bed block in the state's public hospital system before interstate borders reopen next week and COVID-19 spreads, the Australian Medical Association of Queensland says.Doctors say there are not enough staff or beds to cope with surges that may come with COVID-19

The plan includes adding 1,500 more hospital beds, hiring and training more staff to keep hospitals "fully functional" seven days a week, and more detailed analysis of patient flow within hospitals. Emergency physician and AMAQ's Ramping Roundtable chair Kim Hansen said doctors were being "stretched to breaking point"."It is clear where the problems lie."As we head into summer and cyclone season and with the borders reopening, we have no capacity to handle any surges that might come from COVID outbreaks, natural disasters, or other emergencies."Dr Hansen said at least 1,500 more hospital beds were required to ease clogged emergency departments.

"We're calling on the Hospital and Health services across Queensland, Queensland Health and the federal government to listen to our action plan and act," she said.AMAQ president Chris Perry expected hospital's COVID wards to breach capacity."It should not be up to a group of doctors to do this work," Professor Perry said.

It's all but over... covid is fizzing out

Not just beds you need somewhere to put them It might rain

Listening to the government fanning money around on things not as drastically important, you think they'd have some in the budget to financially support our health & also medical professionals. Australian government took too much off the top of the budget for their own benefit...

Kick out all the unvaccinated covid patients for starters and let them fend for themselves

Good luck with that. Politicians are damn good at promising but total sh!t at delivering

This President made numbers go up.

Watch the ABC relentlessly drive the fear and hysteria.

all I can say is Hahahahaha, they keep it out but let it in, live with the virus, or dead with the virus

Hahahaha fear porn ABC

Doctor warns Queensland isn’t prepared for COVID-19 outbreakThe border better bloody well stay open because I WILL be seeing my son, my daughter and grandkids - otherwise I'll be ready for a revolution and yes I'm mad as hell and I will not be taking it anymore.. Its sky news, they like to stretch actual facts. Having said that, with the thousands of medical staff stood down last month and Anastasia asking the federal government for more money to improve our hospitals and being denied..I pray for no more lockdowns and covid drama. Why do you think she’s been keeping it shut for so long? It’s not about keeping people safe. It’s about people seeing how badly she’s done on healthcare. This is all about self-preservation. Just the same as McGowan.

Here's why that's required. The rules haven’t made sense since the beginning, just a quick lockdown to flatten the curve..... To try and deter people coming to Qld - that’s why so NSW is a complete disaster hotspot

Christmas cash splash expected as Australians raid COVID-19 savingsAustralians are expected to splash much of the cash they stashed during lockdowns on Christmas spending, after October and November sales already recorded big gains. Covid savings? What covid savings. Because of covid and this govt I have no money to spend on Christmas. A lot of drug dealers have a lot of money to spend from the stimulus they paid the addicts. Just saying. Having our own currency is an advantage, we control our laws by controlling our national wealth, that fact is the basis of both domestic democracy and international world peace. It's also why cryptocurrency is fatal. What happened to jobs lost, hours cut, small business owners crying?

NT records no new COVID casesAnother one holding onto an elimination policy! Historically, if the US government needed something done, they turned to the private sector. They look at what company can successfully deliver, and give them the contract. Now use that in deciding who is calling the shots of the pandemic. Yep! Vaccine pharmaceutical companies. Great to welcome Trevor_brigg he's one of the best traders that I've ever encountered ,choosing trading with you is one of the most good fortune that has ever happened to me, the way you handle your trade is extremely genuine.
