NSW Transport minister Andrew Constance has made the shock decision that he will not run for Liberal preselection for the Eden-Monaro byelection.his decision with a statement expected from Mr Constance later on Wednesday.
The extraordinary development comes less than 24 hours after he declared his intention to have a tilt at federal politics and quit the state government."There's a very real passion in Eden-Monaro in me," he said on Tuesday."People just want someone who can give it a go and I think I can bring something special given that state wide experience."
Sources close to Mr Constance said that as late as Tuesday night they were convinced he intended to run for preselection and his decision had shocked them. It follows the decision by Deputy Premier John Barilaro not to contest the byelection for the Nationals. Both MPs vowed not run against each other.
