While many Australians provide their phone number and email address when booking domestic flights, not everybody does, but now the Government wants airlines to ensure contact tracers are able to access the information they need.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced airlines will be required to collect more detailed passenger information in order to help contact tracing efforts should a case of COVID-19 be confirmed on a domestic flight.

Airlines have been providing governments with passenger lists for affected flights, but there may have been some instances where not enough information was available to effectively contact trace.said contact tracers in her state had struggled to access all the information they required. Virgin said the company did ask for email addresses from customers at the time of booking and a new COVID Safe pre-departure form requests a phone number

duh , what a revelation really quick off the mark I travelled internationally to australia in april , and while in quarantine , could not even find out if anybody tested positive on the flight. I wasn't even tested while in quarantine.

From memory did the release of plane manifests get blocked, or am I thinking of the Ruby Princess. Slow response to call this now for 01 Oct enforcement.

Really? They make it sound like some great revelation - considering the early days of covid was traveler transmissions you think the geniuses could have thought about this in March.
