Workers 'feeling a little nervous' over job security amid COVID-19 outbreak | Sky News AustraliaResolution123 founder Carly Stebbing says “both permanent and casual workers should be very open” to conversations with their employers over entitlements for paid and unpaid annual and sick leave amid the COVID-19 outbreak.\n\nWorkers are experiencing uncertainty over job security as well as their ability to secure leave if required to self-isolate or if they contact the coronavirus, particularly for casual workers who do not have the same entitlements as full time workers. \n\nMs Stebbing told Sky News “workers' are right to be feeling a little bit nervous about what is going on, what they need to be aware of and what their rights are”.\n\nShe said if it were necessary to remain at home due to health concerns “you need to be talking to your employer about the ability to work from home”.\n\nThe employment law expert said the issue should “ultimately be about job protection”. \n\nConcerns were raised by employees over whether their jobs could be terminated if they contracted the virus but “it is unlawful to discriminate against a person on the basis of their race or a disability,” she said. \n\n“There are going to be a lot of inquiries made now that might otherwise have felt like an invasion of privacy in the past around your travel.\n\n“At the end of the day an employer has a duty of care to ensure the health and safety of their workers at work and equally we have our own duty to ourselves and to others in the workforce.”\n\nImage: Getty \n maybe all those non PAYG tax payers (self-employed, companies, businesses, centerlink rorters etc) who are milking billions from our tax base (stealing from us, not the 'gov't) would like to fund sick leave for casuals, self employed, contractors and others. Two Sydney university students test positive to COVID-19 | Sky News AustraliaA student at the University of NSW and one at Sydney University have tested positive to COVID-19.\n\nUNSW said the infected student went into immediate self-isolation and was not on campus while contagious. \n\nThe USYD student reported feeling unwell at the weekend and is recovering in hospital. \n\nSix on campus locations will be cleaned and about 80 people have been identified as close contacts of the infected students and were asked to self-isolate for 14 days. Bet they are fly ins. .👎 If fly ins, the university should be held liable. Is it Karen Ji? The one complaining that she had to dance around to get back into Australia. Be hilarious if it’s her.
