A possible earthquake might have occurred in Cape Town’s Blouberg region at around 5:52pm on Wednesday, 26 June, reported
The unconfirmed seismic event follows just three months after the Council for Geoscience confirmed the occurrence of a 1.4 magnitude Earthquake, the epicentre of which was located along the Diepriver in close proximity to Milnerton Rural area.According to the recognised news portal for earthquake and volcano updates, details of the quake are so far unknown until confirmed by a seismic agency, but the event was reportedly felt.
In response, many took to the comments section confirming that they felt it, with many reporting having heard a loud bang, some reporting that the loud bang was followed by rumbling and a few others mentioning that their windows rattled. Other Facebook users also reported that the loud bang heard may have been attributed to Portland quarry, who sent its employees a memo stating that ‘there will be a blast at the quarry between 5:30pm and 6pm’.
