Chiefs left-back Edmilson Dove has been withdrawn while on duty for the Mozambican national team. He will rejoin Amakhosi for preseason.

The 29-year-old has been withdrawn from the Cosafa Cup squad ahead of the fixture against Bafana Bafana. Initial reports indicated that Dove had skipped preseason training with, the left-back revealed he was called by his national team coach to represent his country.

“Obviously the club situation is a bit tricky, but I think that’s something I’ll give thought to when I go back and rejoin the team,” he added.“Edmilson was supposed to play against South Africa tonight, but was not authorised by his club, Kaizer Chiefs,” the“In response to the FMF’s letter/request, sent on 19 June, the club only responded yesterday, 25 June, at 15:50,” the statement concluded.

Dove’s contract expires at the end of this month. If Chiefs recalled the defender while on national duty, it means the club are ready to offer him a new contract. Amakhosi have already parted ways with the likes of Keagan Dolly and Sifiso Hlanti.
