Clubs in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal are eyeing up Sibusiso Mthethwa from Stellenbosch FC, with the club hoping to deflect interested suitors. SLSiya Read more:

Interest is being showed from Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal in Sibusiso Mthethwa from Stellenbosch FC, following his inspiring performances for the Western Cape team’s impressive first round of the season.

Since arriving at Stellies in 2018, Mthethwa has been one of the pillars of strength for coach Steve Barker’s team and it comes as no surprise that the club is keen on extending his deal to keep him as part of the squad in line with the plans for further growth for the side in the coming seasons. With the 30-year-old having entered the last six months of his deal, Stellenbosch have acted quickly to begin talks with the experienced centre-back in fear of losing him to interested clubs on a free.

Contacted for comment, the player’s representatives from Rush Hour Sport Management, confirmed the ongoing talks between the parties regarding a new deal. “It is true that we are negotiating with Stellenbosch FC regarding the extension of Sibusiso Mthethwa’s contract. The player’s contract is coming to an end in June and the club is keen on extending his deal and we are currently in negotiations regarding that. The negotiations are ongoing,” said Mushadu Mulovhedzi in a statement on behalf of the player’s representatives.
