The ANC government will have no choice but to work with business and other social partners in revisiting and ensuring proper implementation of the Economic Reconstruction and Recovery Plan (ERRP) if its socioeconomic promises made ahead of the elections...

On Thursday evening, former president Thabo Mbeki was addressing business and professionals as part of the governing party’s stakeholder engagement and preparations for the upcoming November 1 municipal elections.

Mbeki pointed out that while social compact between government, business, labour and civil society which resulted in the ERRP was being driven by the national government, it was central in municipalities being able to secure resources to fulfil the electoral promises made by the party. This was not the first time Mbeki criticized the ten-year ERRP in its current form as he branded it a vision and not an implementable plan compared to the one proposed by the business sector.

“We must get together as social partners and produce these monies to invest in this economy because, in the context of local government, if we don’t do that these commitments will not happen,” Mbeki said.

What does this guy know? His years were waisted too... notice when Zuma took power. VoetsekANC

Maybe we should try a private company to run a municipality on a trail basis .. that would be real interesting. If service delivery improves and comes in budget then they get paid

Businesses and social partners cant help me with potholes and other service delivery issues, they pay tax to the government , samw tax that the anc cant manage. Let the businessea and social partners contest the election if thats a case.

But who says we will work with GovernmentZA? Who says we will further support the MYANC? You can see that by looking at how little financial support they get as the ANC. We appose all they do. CyrilRamaphosa PresidencyZA

ANC candidate councillors publicly pledge to serve South Africans | CitypressAlmost 10 000 ANC local government candidates have made a solemn pledge to the people of South Africa that they’re committed to doing better and being better as public representatives. Lying under oath you mean? Pledge is one thing, implemetation is another. As seen with H.E President. I have a ask,is it the first time? Cause people take an oath others affirm yet they forget all the oaths! Come with something better, I beg!
