SIU raids Home Affairs refugee centres around SA

All five of South Africa's refugee centres were raided simultaneously on Friday morning by the Special Investigating Unit , which is investigating allegations of corruption.

With the help of the Hawks, the SIU began search-and-seizure operations at the centres in Gqeberha , Pretoria , Musina , Durban and Cape Town . It is understood that the SIU is investigating corruption linked to the issuing of asylum and refugee papers to foreign nationals entering South Africa.News24 is present at the raid in Marabastad, Pretoria, where it is understood that more than 60 Home Affairs officials have been identified as suspects in the investigation.Who we choose to trust can have a profound impact on our lives.
