has hailed the recent allocation of new Home Affairs mobile offices as a transformative step in delivering essential government services directly to communities. On Friday, Ncube-Dube welcomed 16 of the 100 mobile offices allocated to KwaZulu-Natal, underscoring the significance of the occasion during an event at Hoy Park Stadium in Durban.
“This is a game-changer in the provision of Home Affairs services. We are here to wage a war against the inaccessibility and unavailability of government services for our people,” remarked Ncube-Dube, highlighting the importance of addressing longstanding challenges in accessing government services. With the deployment of these new mobile units, individuals now have the convenience of walking to a nearby Home Affairs office to apply for essential documents such as identity cards and passports.
Moreover, Ncube-Dube noted that this move addresses longstanding complaints about lengthy queues, particularly in areas like Umngeni, Durban central, and Pinetown. “These mobile offices will enable our people to wait for the trucks to come near their areas where they will be able to do their ID and passport applications or birth certificate registrations. Each truck is fully equipped and caters for people with disabilities and the elderly,” she added, emphasising the inclusivity and accessibility features integrated into the mobile units.
