The passing of Mkhize is a great loss to the SABC. Colleagues expressed shock at the news with many paying tribute to him as a very helpful and humble person. Mkhize will be sorely missed in the organization.

Founder and Chief Instructor of the Motorcycle Safety Institute of South Africa, Hein Jonker, says: “Most of the crashes happen in urban areas where there is a huge congestion of risk factors such as other vehicles, pedestrians and road surface issues.” Motorcyclists are far more vulnerable as a result of being exposed, unlike in a motor vehicle. Many crashes also happen as a result of a motorcyclist not being seen by drivers. Speed is a common factor in many motorcycle accidents.

May his soul rest in peace

I am a biker who commutes every day. The car drivers don't know the law re lane splitting for bikers and go out of their way to block them. They also don't look out for bikers apart from texting and speaking on their phones while driving. I see this many times every day.

Condolences to his family .
