1994 FIFA World Player of the Year Romario has confirmed that he will be returning to the pitch 14 years after hanging up his boots.
The Rio de Janeiro native enjoyed an illustrious career banging in goals religiously for his club sides as well as for the record world champions.t PSV Eindhoven's Philips Stadion, the 1994 FIFA World Cup winner has decided he is keen to tie his laces up once again, this time for America Football Club, for whom he is currently president., the legendary striker has stated that his main motivation for returning to the pitch is to play with his son, Romarinho.
However, it is understood that he will not be playing in any league encounters, and while he will be earning a minimum wage as a player, he will be donating it back to America.The team plays in the second division of Brazil's Campeonato Carioca, and with the same report stating that Romario will consult with head coach Marcus Alexandre on the best way to utilise him given his age, it remains to be seen if he will indeed be available for their season-opener a month from now, on 18 May.
