Former Real Madrid striker Robinho is set for some serious jail time after his nine-year prison sentence was upheld by a Roman court. 😮 More here ➡

, the Brazilian, who also represented the likes of AC Milan and Manchester City during his career, has lost his final appeal against a conviction for allegedly taking part in the gang rape of a woman in Milan in 2013.In 2017, the 37-year-old was found guilty of sexually assaulting the Albanian female in a nightclub and sentenced to nine years in jail, but he has been appealing the initial verdict over the five years since.

In order for the veteran footballer to go to prison, Italy must request a transfer of execution of the sentence to the Brazilian justice system and wait for the Superior Court of Justice to ratify the sentence.Despite the case hanging over his head over the past few years, the forward managed to earn himself a move to his boyhood club Santos in October 2020 on a five-month contract.

However, that signing was hit with a serious backlash, which led to the Brazilian giants terminating his deal less than a week later"in order for the player to concentrate exclusively on his defence in the ongoing case in Italy".
