A rape survivor has been left with a potentially huge lawyers’ bill after losing, on appeal by the State, a civil case she hoped would hold police accountable for failing to find her during her ordeal. TheStar_news

Johannesburg - A rape survivor has been left with a potentially huge lawyers’ bill after losing, on appeal by the State, a civil case she hoped would hold police accountable for failing to find her during her ordeal.

The victory she achieved in 2018 at the Port Elizabeth High Court, where Acting Judge Sarah Sephton ordered police to pay 40% of her damage claims, has been set aside by the Supreme Court of Appeal . “The high court’s finding that Ms K would have been saved from suffering further trauma had she been found earlier is inconsistent with the opinion of the experts,” said Judge Zondi.

Is the judge not bias because the money must come from taxes? How competent is our Police Service? I would suggest read the article before making any comments. Her request was definitely unreasonable 🤦🏾‍♂️ . Judge even ordered her to pay the police minister’s legal fees.

ANC suspends membership of councillor accused of statutory rapeThe ANC in the North West has suspended the membership of a councillor who is facing statutory rape charges for allegedly having a sexual liaison with a 14-year-old minor. Shuu, kuthi huu It's no liason if she is 14 it's a rape. The conduct of councillors though.... how are these councillors actyally recruited? Why is it that so many ANC councillors are working hard to destroy our country.🤬

ANC suspends North West councillor accused of statutory rapeIPC co-ordinator Hlomani Chauke said they noted with shock the arrest of their councillor and his appearance in the Klerksdorp Magistrate's Court, facing a charge of statutory rape of a 15-year-old girl. If you guilty then you guilty. It is always with ... 'Shock,' or with ... 'Surprise,' or ... 'Both,' when it comes to the ANC. We the public are neither shocked or surprised by the actions of the ANC any longer. Wait! I take that back ... if the ANC told the TRUTH or took responsibility, we certainly would be. Suspended. Slap on the wrist. To be deployed elsewhere in the near future.
