DA leader John Steenhuisen said many in South Africa still benefit from “keeping us mistrustful of one another”. He said that in Johannesburg and Tshwane, there were forces of corruption and patronage who would “do anything to undermine clean, accountable governance”. “The dream of the forefathers of liberation is shattered by a visible increase in racism. Instead of uniting the people of the country, the governing party is in the forefront of fueling this toxic situation.”“The rich have become richer and poor have become poorer. We can see that poverty has worsened. More people are unemployed, healthcare has deteriorated, and informal settlements have increased. It is very difficult for us to celebrate, because one cannot celebrate hardship.

He said that the ruling party aimed to promote reconciliation and that without justice and economic freedom, “we are unlikely to achieve sustainable reconciliation and lasting national unity”.

Reconciliation Day: Reconciling with the unrepentant | IOL NewsOPINION: We live in a country where only one race is required to forgive. The strangest part of this forgiveness is that there is an expectation to forgive people who have never asked to be forgiven. I use this day to be thankful I am a atheist and remind myself how god was used to fuck the country up Ah my fok... shame Love the article until u suggested that the day is 2 educate our former oppressors! 4 what? They know very well what happened nd they chose 2 believe that black ppl r not good enough. We had Germans hu were victims of WW2 but chose 2 reach out 2 the world nd the jew community

WATCH: Mthethwa says 'process of reconciliation not a quick fix' | IOL NewsMthethwa says while'there may be some truth' in that only the black majority is pursuing the reconciliation project with ... Yusles minister Especially if you watching from the sidelines as if you have no power... disgraceful Maybe I'm missing something, but the whole concept of 'reconciliation' is a myth in the SA context. It presupposes that there were good relations between the different races before apartheid, which is bulldust. 'Conciliation' would be more appropriate. Get the basics right first

Reconciliation is possible despite deepening racial tension | IOL NewsOPINION: Madiba’s rainbow nation appears to be unravelling as the gap between the rich, largely still white, and the poor, significantly still black, continues to widen. But guys it's the demographic how do you expect that the countries main demographic gets richer when they are a majority while also attending to the delicate balance of interest, inflation and GDP... It's not unraveling greed under the covers of development has taken over. This is not a white VS black thing, I sold more Range Rovers and G63s to Black businessman than white... I sold more Louis Vuitton to black women than white... So respectfully use toilet paper People still need to understand the real meaning of holding politicians accountable ..25 years is not yet enough..
