The National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa has launched a scathing attack on Road Accident Fund CEO Collins Letsoalo and given the fund 48-hour notice of a strike at the RAF offices because of the continuous mismanagement of the entity.
The RAF and Numsa were still locked in discussions after 7pm on Tuesday . The meeting commenced at 2pm. “The strategy that led to the current changes, including restructuring, was presented to Numsa in the presence of the union leader, Irvin Jim. The union also claims the RAF permanently closed its internal call centre and outsourced the function to Alteram, a company that “benefits hugely from government tenders”.
“They attached the server of the RAF which contains all the personal information of the claimants, including their names, addresses and ID numbers, as well as other personal information,” it said, adding that chairs and desks were also taken. “There have been no consequences for this CEO who is so arrogant that he can openly defy members of parliament, and even officials of a recognised trade union,” it said.
