Shares in Prosus and Naspers showed little reaction to news on Tuesday night that earnings will about double in its 2024 year, with one analyst saying its results look to be slightly below consensus.
Prosus, the consumer internet arm of Naspers, said after the JSE closed on Tuesday that it expects its core continuing headline earnings per share to rise as much as about 98% to $1.96 in its year to end March. Naspers, whose earnings are almost entirely made up of the contributions from Prosus, expects a rise of as much as 113% for this metric.
Despite this, Naspers was only very marginally higher on Wednesday morning, while Prosus had gained about 0.4%. On a one-year basis, they have risen by over a fifth and by about 11%, respectively.South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
