The National Prosecuting Authority has come under fire for its apparent failure to investigate and prosecute Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) cases.

MPs criticised the NPA’s handling of such cases after a presentation on a wide range of issues by National Director of Public Prosecutions Shamila Batohi.

ANC MP Qubudile Richard Dyantyi said: “The justification you are making for a lack of progress is not persuasive or compelling ... can the NDPP come back to us with some timelines, not the general presentation she has made. Ganief Hendricks and Daniel Hendricks of Al-Jamah-ah accused the NPA of embracing “Stalingrad” tactics in handling the matters.

MPs against expropriation bill voted 'against will of the people' - MotshekgaThe National Assembly has voted against the proposed bill on land expropriation without compensation after failing to obtain a majority. Motshekga blames 'the beneficiaries' of not supporting them and 'some Black people who do not know the history'. The white vote here is not the problem. The whole idea was a popularity stunt by the RET crowd to do something the constitution already allows for.
