I hope your mother, sister suffer the same – Phumzile Van Damme

Shortly after being assaulted, the DA MP wished the same fate on the mother and sister of a troll whose vitriol found it’s way into her Twitter mentions.

This after she claimed, in a statement and a series of tweets, that she and fellow protesters had been manhandled by security guards at the controversial Medupi Power Station in Limpopo. Van Damme says she has since laid criminal charges against the power plant’s staff after they “manhandled and assaulted” her, barring her “from exercising my constitutional mandate as a member of parliament to conduct an oversight inspection”.

The Medupi site visit and demonstration were part of a DA exercise to once again highlight what they call “a monument to the ANC’s failures at Eskom” in the wake of the most recent bout of stage 4 load shedding.
