Van der Dussen has scored runs with consistency in both the T20s and ODIs and he said it was a result of the hard work at training with his batting coach at the Lions.

Over the past few months since his debut against Zimbabwe in October last year‚ the 30-year old Lions player has done more than enough with the bat to be on the plane to the tournament but he insists that nothing is guaranteed in life.

“That is still my mindset and philosophy. I know that there are going to be some selection meetings coming up and I think I have done okay so far but there are never guarantees in life‚” he said‚ adding that he is enjoying the ride with the Proteas. “You always try to maintain consistency. I have worked long and hard with my batting coach at the Lions last season‚” he said.

“I am 30 years old now and it is different to a 20-year-old coming into the team and playing cricket. I know what works for me and where I need to improve.”
