Healthcare is in a cybersecurity crisis

Hospitals have become increasingly attractive targets for ransomware attacks due to their comprehensive patient databases, sensitive information, and their interconnectedness between systems and equipment.

Africa was the region with the highest average number of weekly cyberattacks per organisation in 2023, one in every 19 organisations on the continent experiencing an attempted attack every week. * The healthcare sector has seen a surge in cyberattack costs over the past three years, with the average cost of a breach reaching nearly $11-million, more than three-times the global average. This makes healthcare the costliest sector for cyberattacks.
