NSRI coast watchers from Nature’s Valley rescued a German couple and their toddler from a gorge on the Kalander Kloof Trail earlier this week.The lady reportedly sustained an injury.
During the response, there was a heavy downpour with hail, which exacerbated the situation and put an NSRI Plettenberg Bay swift water rescue team on alert. They were successfully rescued from the gorge through a technical rescue operation, and we transported them to Plettenberg Bay Hospital, where the lady is receiving medical care and is expected to recover completely.
Two NSRI rescue swimmers were deployed from our rescue craft into the water, swimming to the shoreline and conducting medical assessments on the casualties.
