Gatvol Gamondi blasts ref after Yanga's controversial Champions League exit: 'It was a robbery'

Miguel Gamondi claimed Mauritanian referee Dahane Beida robbed the Young Africans in the loss to Mamelodi Sundowns after disallowing what looked like a legitimate goal.

The Yanga coach slammed Mauritanian referee Dahane Beida for disallowing what looked like a legitimate goal for the Tanzanians, without even bothering to check the screen in a match the official also had video assistant referee which was led by Ghanaian Daniel Nii Ayi Laryea. Beida had already made the call that it wasn't the goal, so the VAR was checking whether his decision was the correct one.

"But beyond that, I don't want to talk anymore because I think everybody saw what happened here. Everybody! If somebody can explain to me why did the referee not go to check for himself? But he went to check if Lomalissa deserved a red card or yellow . It's suspicious at least. Beida's decision, even with the video assistance, was a major talking point, and allowed conspiracy theorists to quickly insinuate that the call was taken to favour the club whose owner, Patrice Motsepe, is also the president of the Confederation of African Football .

Gamondi continued:"You can say that I am not a good coach, and why did you do that – but we are honest people. Today, honesty wasn't here in this stadium. This is painful for football. Very painful.
