With Cosatu's 14th national congress firmly behind it, the labour federation's next big date with destiny comes next year in May, when it and its affiliates will decide whether to continue campaigning for the governing ANC.

The ANC-aligned federation will hold a special conference next year, where it will decide whether its affiliates will continue to throw its 1.8 million-strong campaign muscle behind the ruling party or support their other alliance partner, the South African Communist Party , instead.
