EAST LONDON - The father of one of the 21 teenagers who died at Enyobeni Tavern in Scenery Park said although her child was careless, he blamed the police and the government.

Xolile Malangeni said his 17-year-old would still be alive if the police did their job and patrolled such taverns. The cause of their deaths was not yet known and investigations were under way.

Malangeni visited the crime scene with his relatives before heading to the mortuary to identify his daughter’s body.Mlangeni added that they used to have conversations over coffee."It is because of our uncaring government that this has happened if police patrolled every tavern our kids wouldn't have died here."The Eastern Cape Liquor Board has since shut down the liquor outlet.

The owner’s wife Vuyokazi Ndevu was served with the papers confirming the closure of their business - which is now a crime scene.“In terms of our act, no one is allowed to sell liquor to underage persons. And any person who has done so is in transgression with the law and that transgression is a prosecutable offence - so it is a criminal act,” said Tyikwe.

Bullshit of the highest order!Shifting responsibility when he has failed as a parent!

Amazing! We truly seem to have problems accepting responsibility

Nope, for once it is not their fault, sorry to say the fault lays with the parents and the Tavern owner.

I mean if you can't control your kids you blame popos.

It's really sad what happened, but parents allowed their children to frequent this illegal tavern for some time

Children Raised correctly don't require law enforcement

like it is their job, unlike you: his legal guardian... ovary up and accept blame you stupid fracking idgit populationcontrolllaw

Bulldust & Maybe if you were a better Father than you are right now that precious Child of yours would be alive & i don't know when are Parents gonna learn that their kids are not so innocent out there.

Police?

Your 17 year old in not home midnight and you blame the police how?

Let's control our kids, if you fail to control your children in the house that's the problem how can someone outside do your job guys come on

How come the community around the tavern allowed for these underage kids to frequent there? Start being a responsible parent and engage communities to support our efforts

Police are the first line of defense in any society. In SA there is no police not at borders, murders, rapes, corruption, roads, domestic theft or violence or drugs and alcohol The impact is Society with useless politicians and no defence against criminals is left on their own

No Dad, you allowed your underage son to frequent such establishments. It's your fault! 🤔🤨🙄

Blame games

Yes the SAPoliceService but you as father should look after your children. Education starts at home!
