South Africa Headlines News

EFF leader Julius Malema has called on businesses to make sure at least 60% of their staff are South Africans

Mboweni said things had changed over the past two decades and the country's unemployed workers were being left behind. When he returned to SA from exile in 1990, he explained, eight out of 10 workers at restaurants were South African. The other two were probably Malawian or Zimbabwean. Today almost 100% are non-South African,” he said. The new economy that we are getting into after the lifting of the lockdown must answer that question.

The IFP meanwhile announced in January that it was planning to introduce a new bill proposing the rationing of jobs whereby businesses would be forced to prioritise South Africans over foreigners. At the time, IFP MP Liezl van der Merwe said she would be piloting the proposed legislation to ensure that a certain percentage, or a certain quota, for certain skills should go to people from outside the country who are in the country legally but the majority of the jobs should be reserved for South Africans.

The party suggested that the proposed quota would be 80:20 with businesses obliged to ensure that at least 80% of their employees are South Africans.

Now he is changing the tune

So let's say there's 60 million people in S.A. and 10 million are foreigners. So of ALL jobs 40% must be for non-SA citizens...so employ them all and leave a higher unemployment rate for citizens? You're a domkop Julius_S_Malema

Love the he refers to white businesses but omits the legislative requirement placed on the regarding foreign nationals

Who cares what Malema says!!!! The less people pay attention to him, the more irrelevant he (and his EFFers) becomes.

Why not 100%

But why 60 percent and not 99 percent?

It should be 80% not with our youth unemployment

Can they(Business) disappoint the EFF and make 99.95% of South Africans as their staff/employees. why 60% while their countries are doing 100% to locals.

Who cares what mini dictator wants🙄 VoetsekEFF

As long as we have an unemployment crisis it should be 99.1 this EFf must relocate to Central Africa coz that's the place where they can accommodate the whole of Africa we are not the Capital of Africa

Eff members must not be part of this 60%. They can go get their jobs in Malawi and Zim and Nigeria.

In a country where there is 50% youth unemployment you want to cater for non citizens. Go vote for him you gonna learn...

Sorry but it should be 95%..

90%

Can someone tell me where we belong if we are born in SA... WeWereBornHereToo

How he came to that numbers with so many unemployed locals. Malema is still pushing his agenda of pleasing foreigners at the expense of citizens. People are hungry out there

One of the industries that needs change is the trucking companies. They hire cheap foreigners, overwork them and disregard uif pension etc. That is why our own south African driver's end up burning trucks. Don't just look and blame white employers, it's Indian trucking bosses

Give work to people who can and want to work. Not our lazy locals

South Africans never enjoyed the freedom they got I mean why should we cater for people who got independence long time ago before us This ain't fair at all by the way they are not in power so ftsek

I agree with malema because in some companies full of white people which is wrong in this world everything must be equal black people must be treated like others

He is right
