Cost-cutting measures also mean the ceremony will take place at Loftus Versfeld instead of at the Union Buildings

“We all know there is economic difficulty in this country. The budget that we are going to spend on this inauguration is more than R100m less than what was spent in the previous inauguration‚” she said in a media briefing on Thursday. She said preparing the amphitheatre at the Union Buildings for the ceremony‚ as custom‚ cost more than hiring the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.

Delightful to hear that

Why bloody have an inauguration? Why spend even a cent ?

Alternatively, R120m too much. What a waste thanks for this CyrilRamaphosa

Can you do it all for R1m? Then I will be impressed...

Why have a hellova bash? Go the cheap route...we cannot afford to waste money on pomp and splendour! (Colonialism at its best!)

Still no justification to spend the money disregarding the poor .

Politicians obviously live in another world where R140m for an inauguration party is seen as prudent and sensible, while nearly 30% of workforce go hungry every day. SA only pledged R60m to assist it’s neighbours after Idai.

Still R100m too much !!

Whoopdeedoo! Still in the millions and still unnecessary.

Well from the looks of mama NDZ in the pic, we’re saving a lot on bed linen already🤭

Notwithstanding, the amount 'budgeted' is still OUTRAGEOUS for a sitting president who is preaching austerity in all spheres of government. Finish & klaar! 😡

OPEN LETTER: Dear President Cyril Ramaphosa, please revisit our pay differentialsOur current pay scales, as formalised in the Employment Equity Act, are loosely based on the Paterson System. But a crucial category of that system has been left out, and it's time to fix that error, writes Graham Giles.

Cyril Ramaphosa sets up policy war roomPolicy and Research Services will give president a clear line of sight over economic policies We need action not deeds and words. Do you think Jacob and Ace will allow this war room to do anything? We've had more 'war rooms' in SA than I care to remember, and not one of them delivered a result so far. Without investors those war rooms will be only games rooms.
