Payments Association trying to resolve high number of debit order scamsAs of the 1 August last year, major South African banks have implemented a programme called debi-check, a facility that requires customer authorisation before a debit goes through. Banks are complicit! Trying is the correct word... These people don't want to resolve the issue. This is something which can be simple resolved by blacklisting account numbers being credited with this fraudulent transactions... Yet they opt to load stop orders against reference numbers These greedy banks just need to deactivate and close the scammers' accounts, just like how they did with the Guptas. They didn't need any prompting to do that

Capitec customers frustrated by R99 debit ordersCapitec customers are up in arms over unexplained debit orders. Im one of them,, every month i hv to reverse a R99. unauthorised debit order for R40. What's really going with CapitecBankSA? Why do they allow such fraud? And when you reverse the debit order they charge you R40, for something they should've made sure it doesn't happen 😔 Standard bank had the same one....something called the big 5...
