I'm not sure how I feel about this. On one hand I don't want flysaa to continue bleeding the discus but I'm also weary of considering the first option on the table.
Sell it!
We’ve seen state capture & no one jailed - will SOE’s ownership be next with Chinese help - so the ANC’s good times can keep rolling on?
Give 51% SAA shares to get a loan (we can still have SAA’s annual top-up demands). The consortium must have insider information on how SAA can make money; but we are not being told. We’ll probably see a Chinese State Capture launch at SAA with phantom ANC collaborators in wings?
If they do it they must replace the board, CEO, and Exco with competent people otherwise it will be 21 billion down the drain.
wow; the consortium is getting a really good deal; as for SAA🙅🏽♀️
What follows in the name of efficiency and competent is restructuring that followed by massive Black Africans job losses.
Another State capture is looming.
This will do more harm than good
When has a loan (that you repay, both capital and interest) ever given you a majority stake in a company? What a horrible deal!!!
Now watch watch the South African armchair socialists squeal...
This article is touching me in my studio, as much as I supported and voted for Cyril at nasrec and the new leadership, I am going to be the first one to mobilize and protest against this deal. I hope it’s not true. I dnt trait the media anyway
The mai shareholder is gonna refuse and impose the burden on tax payers
This bid is unsolicited guys. Treasury is yet to decide.
Wonder whom the 'local investors' are.... Should make interesting reading..
Hebanna
Methinks this scenario is heavily suspect! This all smacks of further capture! 51billion just laying around with a little known company/consortium?
DanielAirey Sell it
,😂🤣😂 the flying for free fraternity must be getting nervous. Time to pay like the rest of us.
Soon enough it will be another investor taking over the whole country.
This is what they wanted, they did the same with Telkom, now we can't politically drop the cost of data.
That is the only solution. Maybe 49%
How is it a loan if they're getting an equity stake in return?
You’re so outdated. SAA doesn’t use the Boeing 747 fleet anymore. Take off this pic
Bailing out wont save it. Better management and a stop to ridiculous payments to suplliers may. I doubt it. String probably will be pulled by the Chinese.
Hmmh...
Haibo! A whole 51% into private ownership? Ne maan.
Some incompetent, undeserving, anc deployed BEE cadres be getting nervous. thumamina saa eskom prasa transnet denel
Who needs investors right?
Vultures are circling. Proudly brought to us by PravinGordhan ThumaMina Ramaphosa CyrilRamaphosa radebe_jeff GwedeMantashe1 statecapture continues... KnowYourANC
All SOEs’ should be sold off like this... only way any stability and growth can take place. Everything the ANC touches turns to shit. SAA
Doubt the offer will fly though. More so the Consortium becoming 'majority share holder'. Will Labour even give the deal wings.
The problems at SAA are not because it's a public company, the problems are managerial...feels like the excuse to privatize is that the problems are basically because it's a public company. Also, if these guys have this much cash, why not start a new airline?
SAA is making money, but badly run.
Thanks to whom, Zuma
Name that consortium?
Am still maintaining my position, the Government wants to sell all the SOC to friends in the name of private investors
Why can't government issue shares to the public?
I'm baffled by the valuation, if gov has given the airline 50bln and consortium willing to loan 21bln how on earth do they get to 51% ownership? If unions allow this, then we will know they are behind the sabotage of the airline
I can't forget the business and investment blunder committed by MYANC led government when they sold x% of Telkom shares in Vodacom to Vodafone. What they did with the money realized from the sale of shares is a mystery. Did DuduMyeni perform as instructed on flysaa status?
ermbates Kwasuka lokho madoda, they ran down everything so they could be privatised, this is just the beginning.
Not sure what the issue is with it being owned by anyone else but the state. Even the the Chinese would be better than sitting with bottomless pit sucking that last energy out of finance coffers! 49% of success is better than 100% of failure!
How credible are those willing investors? Can you trust HlaudiMotsweneng to be the president of RSA? Selling 51% of the state owned entity is NO NO, the flysaa can be a good business with ethically supportive board and proficient shareholder. It has to be recapitalised!
ermbates Theunis Crous, isn’t that the same guy who was married to KhanyiMbau
ermbates 51% stake ! Wow that’s bold ! 😂😂💁🏾♂️💁🏾♂️
You might want to update your file photos of SAA's aircraft. The B747-400 disappeared years ago. It's largely an Airbus fleet now.
In fact it's 39% plus 11% by the PIC. JSE listed competes very well with repressive competitors and never asks for bailouts as it is a profitable company owned by the State
Telkom State Owned Enterprise is 41% owned by the state I think? And its doing wonders. Nothing wrong with this model if done right TelkomZA
Why would investors want to buy SAA if we're made to believe that it's making such big losses
tito_mboweni?
A big NO NO. The Chinese are taking over Zambian Airport and Mombasa Port through these kind of deals.
Check thos out PresJGZuma
Complete nonsense
Loan for shares? More like investment for shares. FMFSouthAfrica
I smell a rat..
Well, how is this for a Christmas gift. Its time that SAA is managed properly and returned some pride to our nation. We deserve to be free of the debt that JacobZuma Clearly Created and this helps....
Excellent move in this situations.
SAA is to SA what IBM and GE are to the USA....
Loss making, not bankrupt
VijayShadean I wonder if there are strings attached? And if so what are they?
No suprise...the same rubbish from MYANC you people really think south africans are stupid
Wait wait, we do not want SAA to be privatised yet we are not happy with the continuos bailouts from the government?
Take it! Quickly!
Sell it.
Goodbye SAA as we know it.
When Zuma killed SAA, you cheered him on
They must get 49%
U
Good move
New capture on the table
Take it!!
Khanyi Mbau’s ex BAE buying a stake in our national asset what a joke. But we’re a joke of a country anyway.
How do we know that the same mismanagement will not take place again , resulting in further losses and bankruptcy ?
'Fly Modern Ark’s co-founder, Theunis Crous'. Ai ai ai 🤔
Loan for 51% stake in SAA....Satafrica alive with possibilities
Loan or buying ?
Excellent idea. Next sell the country to another colonial power too.
You do realize SAA don’t fly B747s any more? Catch a wake up. Sloppy sloppy sloppy.
Is this the same guy?
And fire the incompetance African Culture. No success on any terrain
SAA is finally privatized 😁
With 51% stake they'll effectively own SAA, it won't be government entity anymore.....
This smells like China!
They gonna sell it
Bafeng yona, it's fine
Are these local investors connected to Cyril or Patrice?
