'Just know that you are being mischievous if you say people must stop blaming apartheid and colonialism.'

"Just know that you are being mischievous if you say people must stop blaming apartheid and colonialism. Yes, we can't blame it all for everything but the problems we are now faced with are direct consequences of colonialism, its sister neo-colonialism and apartheid,” he said on Saturday.the 17th annual Nelson Mandela Lecture at the University of Johannesburg's Soweto campus. It was a shame that there were so many people still suffering, the chief justice said.

“The greatest facilitator of sustained injustice is keeping people ignorant of what they are entitled to. Knowledge is power,” he said. "It doesn't matter if you are black or white, whether you speak Tswana or Afrikaans, whether you ride in a smart new car or walk barefoot, we all have certain basic human rights.”

It's Mogoengs view..it doesn't mean there are no other views..some will blame current corruption & mismanagement and they are not wrong

Lol im sure white people hate our Chief Justice now. This will definitely trigger them. Any person of colour who states the obvious legacy of apartheid is an enemy to them

You are not only “mischievous’ but also stupid to limit the judge’s statement to a single sentence. We here today because of our colonial past and the apartheid system...not condoning the corruption of the current government.

I had all the respect for him, right up until now when I read his statement about our problems.

And then there is ZIMBABWE ! The black African will never be taken seriously. While every other nation forge ahead.

Mogoeng you KNOW that is a part of the problem, ACCOUNTABILITY AND CORRUPTION ALSO HA E A MAJOR PART TO PLAY. PRAY FOR WISDOM

Mogoeng is being mischievous by telling people to blame almost everything on Apartheid!

Triggered the minority. 😅

What fresh hell is this?

In other words don't blame the ANC's thieving and corruption since 1994 in the name of the people and at the expense of the people? Sadly it seems you chief justice have also been brainwashed by the ANC. Corruption and that alone has made South Africa go backwards not forwards...

It's a weak argument..Germany and Japan took six to seven years to recover from WW2...25 years is a quarter of a century...and you cannot possibly deny looting and corruption since the arms deal under Mandela's government.

This is the same Muppet that wants biblical based justice and yet apartheid was imposed by the Bible i can see a problem with his logic

'25 years into democracy and SA still struggles with racism, unemployment’ - SABC News - Breaking news, special reports, world, business, sport coverage of all South African current events. Africa's news leader.Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng has told the 17th annual Mandela Lecture that it is unacceptable that 25 years into democracy South Africa still struggles with racism, unemployment and inequality. Maybe we are being too impatient for our politicians liking. They are still busy trying to enrich themselves. To them 25 years is nothing, afterall the country owes them everything for fighting struggle and going to exile(🏃‍♂️). This people are starting to sound like a broken record, tired of hearing the same issues time & again, they're not doing anything about it Race is inextricably linked to economics... it shouldnt be hard to understand that solutions to racism lie in the economic well being of the lowest common denominator
