Chelsea Linked With £54m Signing

Reports suggest that Chelsea are looking to stabilise their defence with a £54 million acquisition at the end of the season., the Blues are looking to land Juventus star Matthijs de Ligt's signature at the end of this campaign in a bid to find a long-term solution to an unbalanced defence.

Chelsea, along with Bayern Munich and Barcelona, are among the Dutchman's main suitors, but due to their vast riches, they are reportedly positioned the best to secure the former Ajax Amsterdam captain's servicea.As things stand, the London club could lose both Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on free transfers at the end of the season, leaving them compromised in defence going into the new campaign, with coach Thomas Tuchel seemingly looking to be proactive in remedying this.

Reports indicate that Chelsea also remain highly interested in acquiring the services of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde after failing to sign him at the beginning of the season.De Ligt's form since arriving at Juventus in 2019, although solid for the most part, has been slightly underwhelming, with the Bianconeri having found it difficult to compete in the UEFA Champions League over the past few seasons. Still, the 22-year-old has his best years ahead of him.
