Venue: Stamford Bridge Thomas Tuchel opted for Mateo Kovavic and Jorginho in midfield, as N'Golo Kante dropped to the bench while Eric Dier and Matt Doherty were recalled to the Spurs side. The Blues enjoyed a lively opening with both Romelu Lukaku and Callum Hudson-Odoi going close in the opening 10 minutes, while Hakim Ziyech forced a save out of Hugo Lloris. Spurs, meanwhile, were quite content to sit back and allow Chelsea to have the ball but they posed no real threat on the counter in the opening 20 minutes. Chelsea should have been ahead in the 32nd minute Mason Mount picked Lukaku out in the box, but the Belgian striker failed to make contact from six-yards out. Spurs had the ball in the back of the net with five minutes to go in the half Harry Kane fired home from close range, but celebrations were cut short for the striker's foul on Thiago Silva. The breakthrough did for the Blues two minutes after the break, with Hakim Ziyech making it two goals in two games with a stunning curling effort from distance that left Lloris with no chance. The lead was doubled in the 54th minute as Thiago Silva bagged his third goal of the campaign by glancing home a header from Mount's free-kick. Spurs tactician Antonio Conte responded by making a double change soon after the second goal as Lucas Moura and Oliver Skipp replaced Ryan Sessegnon and Japhet Tanganga. The visitors did see a bit more of the ball as the second half went on, and they nearly pulled one back on 85 minutes but Kepa did well keep out Kane's close-range header. That proved to be the final chance of the second half as Tuchel's charges secured maximum points and a clean sheet to cement third spot.
