ANC manifesto looks to prescribed assets, wealth fund once again

The ANC revived several of its old economic policy ideas in its election manifesto, which was released on Saturday and promised to implement prescribed assets for pension funds, establish a sovereign wealth fund, and"run an expansionary fiscal policy" to support growth.

These are ideas that circulate perennially in the ANC. Ironically, even though they are continually endorsed, in reality, the ANC fails to implement them and has made policy decisions to the opposite effect in the past five years. South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future. News24 has kept the country informed for 25 years, and we're about to enter a new chapter of fearless journalism.

ANC Suspends Jacob Zuma, Signaling End of His Political PowerThe ANC's suspension of Jacob Zuma probably signals the end of the former president's remaining political power within the party. He wielded immense power over the ANC and used that power to cause untold damage to the organisation he identified so closely with. On his path of destruction, he was supported, enabled and often encouraged by people who now say they want nothing to do with him. Where were they when Zuma's narrow personal agenda took over South Africa?
