South Africa Headlines News

Fifty-one illegal migrants rescued from a plastics factory in Gauteng have been arrested and charged under the Immigration Act.

They were arrested during a law enforcement operation led by the department of home affairs at a Chinese-owned factory that allegedly kept employees in slave-like conditions.

Acting on information provided by a whistle-blower, the home affairs inspectorate visited the factory in Alberton, Ekurhuleni, on Monday night but were refused entry by security. The inspectorate returned on Wednesday in a joint law enforcement operation including police, the department of employment and labour, Ekurhuleni metro and private security officials.

This led to the arrest of 51 illegal migrants from Malawi, Zimbabwe and China who were allegedly forced to work, eat and sleep inside the factory. “The 51 were subjected to inhumane and unspeakable working and living conditions in a factory owned by a Chinese national,” said the department.

This has been happening for years. The Chinese ruined our entire textile economy in Newcastle with these exact same sweatshop tactics, and to this day continue to do the so. Government must take full responsibility.

PhalaPhalaFarmGate

And the factory owner?

So they will pretend as if bebengazi yey nina bodoti

I think the President should call a family meeting, give all illegal immigrants a month to leave the country, after 30 days he shutdown the country & do a proper clean up using SAPS, SADF & Private Security, lastly secure all borders and replace all Home Affairs officials.

This news is not gaining attention, imagine if the news said a Zimbabwean or Nigerian factory it will be a different story all the dudula low self esteemed thugs will be on it

Chinese labour?

Lets find the owner of this IDENTITY, is currently used by this illegal foreigner on the pic

Stop writing nonsense you can't rescue co-conspirators. Criminals volunteering as slave have been arrested breaking South African laws. No matter how you try to portray them as victims they are criminals volunteering and breaking SA laws in the process.

Home affairs must wake-up &save our country from the mess, foreign nationals syndicates do as they like in our country, selling fakes, drive vehicles without licensees, jump the fence to give child birth, fake marriages, buy SA birthcertificates,IDs, Passports from corrupt officials

Rescued & arrested good job😁👍👍👍😁😁😁😁😁😁

The most loved Minister by us South Africans never before a minister steals the hearts of millions passing so called president, Motsoaledi stealing the history books. Afriforum we really hate you but this time we hate to admit we love you strue🤞we citizens thank you so s-muuch

Charge that damn factory owner as well.

And some people think China is a friend of South Africa - some people just have no idea 🤷‍♂️

Chinese are the most rasist people and not caring about other race. Because of black leaders we are exposed

BRICS the mighty friends, loyal to each other as long as the little friends are happy to be 'screwed'.

companies must provide their staff composite to the dept of labour and those who hire illegal immigrants must be punished significantly. that unpatriotism must end

Now we have to feed them😒

HermanMashaba Open borders and Everything For Free

Chinese DUH.....expect nothing else....

Why are you surprised that’s what they do ?

But no consequences for the owners of the plastics factory?

HermanMashaba so we expect SA to make a formal complaint to China and to have the owner of the factory bought back to face charges of human trafficking, human rights abuses, employment regulations etc... let wait and see

Is the factory closed and the Chinese deported?

Thanks Minister for all the efforts, we are behind you all the way.

HermanMashaba South Africa is a play ground for the rest of the illegal immigrants, they do as they please even if it wasnt this kind of a problem. Have you been to Jozi Lately? You would think it's best you never get back there..

Where in Gauteng. The province has plenty industrial parks.

When we say many companies prefer to employ foreigners because it's easy to to treat them as slaves, it said we are jealous. Foreigners, especially the illegal ones are slaves in SA.

Also deport those Chinese back to their country they are not helping south Africans with anything. They are not here to solve the unemployment crisis they are here to make things worse.

HermanMashaba What about the 'slave owner' who also falls under the umbrella of Black?

HermanMashaba Arrest the owner of the factory

And the owner of that plastic factory is he arrested too?

Rescued from earning an honest living.

And they get R 50 penalty and set free .

👏👏👏👏👏

You rescue them and arrested them. So it means you never rescue them but you arrested them. You just take some chances to these poor hungry people because they can't speak for themselves.

Someone was taken off of payroll thus you see it on the news because it's like it started last week 😂😂😂...............📍🗑️

This is how South Africans are lazy. They refuse to stripped of their rights and to be treated as slaves. I bet the owners of the factory vote DA, ANC or EFF.

It's very sad, I've always suspected slavery in those factories around Crown mines

One action they will publish it, go and work that is your job, for long time you are doing nothing. Lazy mampala's

Nagana if 51 south africans were working

Imagine catching 51 and more that 1000 entering SA as we speak kkkkk

Deport that rubbish

abouttime!

Rescued Ayi mina I'm not sure about that

Are the Chinese legal?

The only Minister working in SA🇿🇦.

Minister Of The Year Mokone 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

The are so many Factory's around Kempton Park doing so ain't surprise for me.

One of few ministers who are doing their jobs. Motsoaledi keep it up. SA is waiting for you.

What about the employer?

Prevention is better then cure. Anc knew that this open border will be a problem but bcos they wanted to be seen as heroes of Africa did it anyways. Today they don't know how to fix this problem. We should never give credit to any anc members. They failed us long time

South Africa is not Africa. Every president must look after his own country. Why is CR worried about Africa because the so called top six are all foreigners

Our South Africans are suffering while foreigners are blossoming and its all the ANC fault they have immigrants in the party. Our president is one. Depotforeigners

Cyril is allowing it (illegal immigrants) because his parents are/were from Malawi. How can he run this country if he is half South African. He is giving half our resources away to africa. The ANC is really corrupt to allow him to be president

Did they arrest and charge the Chinese slave masters too !

Everyone has been telling you about China... The Africa countries that think they are your friend, is in for a big surprise still...

Good job minister, keep up the good work. Bopha, hambakhaya nina

Deport all of them cause if u jail them tax payers will hv to feed dem...while many🇿🇦ns go to bed hungry... We south africans dnt want illegal foreigners in our country these ppl are only here to wreak havoc on our country's infrastructure and economy VoetsekANC

Mandela and his MYANC have turned South Africa into a rubbish bin. This is a country where people from all the world come to do as they please. When we dare say anything women who sleep with these criminal foreigners call us 'xenophobic'

I think we can all agree that if Dr Motsoaledi would one day open his own party most South Africans would be part of that party....I know I would.

'rescued' then 'arrested' 😂

Why don't you repatriate the slavery drivers back to China, if not Aaron Motshaledi, you are just as guilty as the slavery drivers, or are Mzansi a province of China?

Why is our govt so soft on these Chinese who r treating Africans like slavès

This is the one cabinet reshuffle that has worked. The man was stale and out of ideas at Health. Look at him now flourishing at Home Affairs.

'Rescued' 🙄

How can you even RESCUE people and went ahead to CHARGE them?

Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi, please keep up the good work 👏🏿 , your effort is being recognized and we know that you're not supported by some South Africans who stand to benefit out of this illegal migrants.

Rescue from 'enslaving work conditions'. Arrested for being in the country illegally.

What is happening to the Chinese that own that shop ?

So you rescued them from slavery and then charged them with the crime of being slaves ?

When we say they are here for the rand without paying taxes this is what we mean there's millions of them flocking into SA from Pakistan to Zimbabweans know that the laws , the law makers and enforcers of the law can be bought .

The only minister worth he’s salary 🙌🏼

nes_kamogelo They were rescued, but now they're in jail? I'm conflicted about the 'rescue'....

Rescue and arrest, we are led shame😄😄

Chinese been doing this for thr longest time.. I still remember thr lanseria situation

U would expect CouncilPractice/ SAHRCommission/ LHR_SA to assist Khayalethu Magadla (boy fell in a manhole in Soweto) family to sue GovernmentZA for gross negligence or something like that but dololo

What about slaves in 1652 thugs plantations?

Were they slaves?

All Chinese, including all business with China must be stopped! Chinese are the worst human rights violators in Africa and China.

Chinese enslave black people and South Africans are mad at the slaves, I fukken hate this country

UThabo_Mkhizee Bopha bopha bopha

I hope the Chinese will be sent back aswell, can’t be coming her to enslave black people🤬

All China town malls must be inspected

People are ignoring the fact that Chinese are the one who hired and exploiting these so called 'illegal immigrants'. The problem is not them but those who hire them for exploitation, dudula and put south are afraid of Chinese and Business Owners

These Chinese factory disrespect our laws and our government still tolerating their nonsense.

nickhedley

House niggas

There's many of these in Ekurhuleni and SAPS knows about them they take bribe and shut up mxm

MmusiMaimane

Get rid of the Chinese as well, just like the Rwandan president did.

Well done to us for a tip off😭😭😭

And the factory owners will walk away scot free due to 'our special relationship' with China! Pathetic ANC again!!

So the guy is so shamelessly talking about mere 51 illegal immis out of more 40 million roaming our streets🙄🙄🙄

Well I hope they refer the Chinese national who is out of the country to Interpol so we can get him back here. If the factory manager was arrested then I'd think the owner would be capable as well. Hopefully he tries coming back.

Danko

Nice guys, thank you for your service to our country! 👍 I feel sorry for these people who were being taken advantage of. It just shows that coming here illegally can be dangerous in its own right. They need to be sent back to their home countries.

When are they being deported?

Thumbs up for minister Motsoaledi. The only minister doing his job.

Dragon city and other factories around fordburg in Johannesburg illegal immigrants working there for illegal immigrants businesses

Heavy fine to the company, And deport the illegal immigrants, Case closed, 🤐

Charge them Motsoaledi

We appreciate you Minister unfortunately it seems like you fighting this battle alone.

Come wena useless SAHRCommission

From the statement alone my deduction is that the illegals might not have had a choice really.......I suspect they were trafficked against their will exactly for enslavement by their fellow countrymen

The ANC Government must be voted out of power in 2024. Such lawlessness is disgusting.

pepsi_nala homeaffairsZA we highly appreciate, recognise your efforts herewith, well done and continue to add value towards your commitment especially ministerMotswaledi you are the greatest Mokoni.

What's the fine to the employer per illegal?

kabelodick Deport

CoruscaKhaya I guess if Home Affair had done its job from the onset, we wouldn't be in a situation were resources meant to improve the operations at Home Affairs are used for chasing illegals.

Where is HelenSuzmanFdn Nicole_Fritz SAHRCommission as usual are you going to intervene These are ur types of cases

The employer should be prosecuted ito s38 of the Immigration Act, 2002 for illegally employing an immigrant without a work visa. Our courts too are complacent. Next week a judge in one of our courts of law will grant them bail instead of immediate deportation.

U rescued them and then arrested them..wow, just wow

You said 'rescued' minister? Please rescue us from evil and deport all illegal cockroaches back where they belong

Hundreds here

The enablers of illigalities in SA are 🤐 They act lime they see nothing at the moment.

All must be deported with immediate effect PutSouthAfricansFirst

Where is the SAHRCommission because they r forever rushing to scenes when the stay of foreigners is threatened but they r nowhere to be found when their rights r being exploited for cheap labour 🤷🏾

Lepoch9 Where are those White monopoly capital backed and funded NGOs who are protecting this slavery system because it benefits whites. Africans are slaves against here in SA. HelenSuzmanFdn is defending this nonsense

There was this foundation ne e, i sa Mister ko Court a ba bo le le gape or they have decided to go nna ko zim?

Don't go and give them work permits now, chuck them out! Illegals got no rights, our constitution is for us, our rights

If jumping from frying pan to fire was a person.

Lol if they were rescued then why were they charged 😂

South Africans are Xenophobic say it again, when we crying about illegal foreigners doing all sorts of crimes in our country u call us names what is this bloody useless media🚮🚮🚮🤮🤮

EFF can go with them to their country as Floyd is also busy with Namibian.. Julius busy with Zimbabwean nd Godi busy with Nigerians etc..

If foreigners can take South African govt to court to challenge its laws, perhaps patriots need to take govt to court to make it enforce its immigration laws. PutSouthAficansFirst OperationDudula ANCGP PhalaPhalaFarmGate

🙏🙏🤞🤞🤞Minister Motswaledi... Job well done, we're sick nd tired of these foreigners who are working in our country yet the children of the soil are unemployed.. They must all go back to their country to fight nd develop them. We're overpopulated bcos of them. Let them go.

CoruscaKhaya rescued and arrested... the laws are weird.

And we say the Chinese are our friends? They must be jailed with no extradition options, bloody criminals.

Good job minister but, more still needs to be done, when operation dudula want to assist government in curbing this ,some politicians including your party says is zenophobic, is time to check all foreign nationals in this country, white, yellow, red, maroon etc

Thanks minister, don't give up keep up the good job. E seng bo phala phala magodu.
