A Personal Reflection: Happy Freedom Day, Portugal, 45 years after the Carnation Revolution

While populism, nationalism and the financial crisis have eviscerated southern Europe’s other centre-left parties, Costa’s Partido Socialista enjoys a 13-point opinion poll advantage and his minority government is feted by EU leaders.
