Reserve Bank deputy governor Kuben Naidoo said the biggest factor still inhibiting Cape Town's growth was the persistence of apartheid spatial design.

But Naidoo said he was encouraged by the government’s willingness to talk about the problematic state-owned enterprises and to engage investors.

While SA spends the next decade rebuilding institutions and taking a"very slow and steady ride back up", the country will be vulnerable to global market shocks due to a GDP/debt ratio of more than 50%. There were some encouraging signs for the Western Cape and Cape Town, however, and despite a devastating year for agriculture the province had the lowest unemployment and rural unemployment rates.

So we must bring apartheid back?

he forgot to mention that the eastern capes population also since moved over to the WC😵😡😠

We will sort out that once SARB is nationalised.

But that’s a national problem, so why make it out to be a uniquely Western Cape issue? The ANC has maintained apartheid spatial planning for the past 25 years!

And yet the Western Cape created the most jobs comparing to other provinces in SA. I suspect he is just politicizing this.

I think this goes for the rest of South Africa not only Cape Town

What a disgrace ANC government showered on SA. Do we have 10 years and who will fix the mess.

This can’t be all you have, flogging the dead horse by belittling CT’s growth and yet they receive almost zero assistance from National Government & had to rebuild after the ANC messed it up for the brief time they got their looting corrupt hands on CT!

..is it only Cape Town with apartheid spatial design..other towns/cities not usual mentioned are ok

If discrimination is such a factor why is it on a excel spreadsheet today because of Power well that Power gonna fade ,the corrupt with full

Rather be quiet governor Cape Town wasn't built on your strength or ANC frontliner but the people who made Cape Town what it is today ,

Really now? CT has been growing at the rate of knots. Unlike the rest of the country.

The same useless folk who destroyed the only black bank we had in South Africa, becoz of hatred of EFF. He cant take any action against FNB. A bank which abuses its licence to discriminate against Blacks.

Problem is people don't have 10 years now. So they'll vote any donkey singing a sweet tune.

Deputy Governor just said it 😁

25 years after the fact? I don't buy it anymore...

Amazing. Still repeating this bogus summary of his speech. Wow.

Nothing sinister about nationalising Reserve Bank, says Cyril RamaphosaThe president says changing the central bank’s ownership will not necessarily affect its independence It’s just another waste of money on a futile policy choice. Giving the ANC led government the power to print money sounds pretty sinister to me... Highly contradictory! What a pity.
