'Havoc' for rand amid plans to nationalise Reserve Bank | Fin24

President Cyril Ramaphosa's announcement on Thursday that government intends to continue with plans to nationalise the central bank cased"havoc" in dealing rooms, according to Bianca Botes, Corporate Treasury Manager at Peregrine Treasury Solutions.

On Thursday Ramaphosa said that SA's private shareholding in the central bank was a historical anomaly. "This has long been a highly contentious matter, with condemnation from rating agencies as well as the public," she said. She added that once the"shock factor" had dissipated, analysts would look to mandate as well as independence.

Fin24 CyrilRamaphosa Is this going to be the new norm? You can't run the SOE's currently under goverment control so now you want to do the same to private companies. How about you sort out the SAA, Eskom, Education and Health Care first before you ruin what is left of this country!

Fin24 I’m guessing uncle CyrilRamaphosa was offloading some US$...

Fin24 Is there a safe institution that ppl don’t wanna loot?

Fin24 Irresponsible. Clearly the rest of the country, world do not trust the gov.

Fin24 More exemplary work by the ANC. Might as well make SA and Zim one country, currencies are about to be equivalent. Don’t worry though, the politicians will continue to get fat, Africa/commie style. Idiots.

Fin24 How else will they steal millions and get rich?

Fin24 A looter continua

Fin24 They say they going to fix South Africa but they continue with destroying our economy. Wake up to the lies of the ANC before our money is worthless like many other African countries. Vote for the DA this is going to be your last chance. Another 5years of the ANC WILL DESTROY SA.

Fin24 More looting coming soon.

Fin24 This is no surprise at all. Ramaphosa was part of Zuma's cabinet. He just continue in a subtle way to put every rand in the ANC's pocket. Next will be the banks and more to to steal. They will not stop until every one's pocket in this country is empty.

Fin24 What the F is going on. Now after the reserve bank? handsoffthereservebank sabc sick of this. Look at Eskom SAA and see the results F I'm sick of this

Fin24 This volatile Rand of yours...
