As Zoom grapples with harassment on its videoconference platform, CEO Eric Yuan says he is willing to make the app safer — even if that makes it harder to use.

The CEO and founder of the newly popular video conferencing service Zoom says he'll make his product harder to use, if it improves safety and security.

Zoom has taken off during the coronavirus pandemic thanks to how easy it is to join a virtual meeting on the platform by clicking on a single link. But now Eric Yuan says,"When it comes to a conflict between usability and privacy and security, privacy and security [are] more important – even at the cost of multiple clicks."co-host Ari Shapiro, who asked whether the Zoom CEO would prioritize security after a series of missteps.

"If you asked me this question one year ago, I would hesitate to say yes. But now, absolutely yes," Yuan answered."We're going to transform our business to a privacy-and-security-first mentality."

Willing to keep the app safe is a good sign right? While some companies think about “layering on” privacy and security, iotex_io employs a philosophy of “privacy by design”. This means the upfront design prioritizes PRIVACY as a MUST-HAVE, NOT just an AFTERTHOUGHT.

I never even HEARD of Zoom, or their Chinese born CEO until the outbreak of Covid-19 (also Chinese born) I also didn’t realize China CORNERED THE MARKET on medical equipment (including ventilators & masks) immediately before the outbreak. I call BULLSHIT. ACROSS THE BOARD!

“I guess we’ll require users to have to type in a password to access their bank statements — even if that makes it harder to use”.

Well my boss asked me to use zoom but I said no because I don’t want to be exposed to po*n, so I said I’m sorry but no I will not use it. Just my two cents -Donnie

What the fuck is he smoking. He is trying to scapegoat anything he can. Their shit security practices doesn’t have anything to do with “making the app easier to use”

Has this guy met the internet? He honestly didn't think harassment would be an issue.

Privacy is not a feature. It's table stakes.

No excuses. There are other platforms that provide video conference service with a good measure of security. Security should not make it harder to use.

Step 1: Add a password to your Zoom session That's it, that's all you need to do.

Then make it harder to use! Anything to do with the internet is going to have harassment because it's the internet.

Better!!!!

How Is the am stock doing today?
