There is very little evidence to suggest that homework is anything more than a hassle when it’s assigned to young children.” This last year, my boys teachers haven’t been assigning homework and they’ve been THRIVING. I remember spending hours at the table with my mom as a kid & I’d be in tears from all the homework & studying we’d have to do. I don’t want that for the next gen. Couldn’t agree more. I’m also an advocate of eliminating most tests in elementary school. As a psychologist who worked in college counseling, I’ve seen the damage that early pressure-filled schooling can do. I teach elementary school and 100% agree with this. Kids should be reading every night possibly practicing some math facts and that's about it.
